A week and a bit left!

Well only a week and a bit left here in super Chile! We had some more wind after Chorillos and sailed two evenings in a row at Matanzas in small shoulder high waves.

We also got in at Topolcama but the wind died - I got one wave by swimming out, uphauling and a bit of sneaky gust hunting. One turn, a little floater and as I went in to the next turn my back foot came out and that was it!

Since then it has been windless cold and foggy! But only in Matanzas, five minutes drive away in Navidad the sea fog doesn't get inland and the sun is out everyday - quite frustrating really!

The swell has been pretty good the last two days and we surfed once at Puertocillo and a couple of times at Matanzas. Puertocillo involves a death drive down a ridgeline (4x4's only) yet still had way too many people out making for a very frustrating surf! The wave is such a perfect left here that with 30+ in the water it is a real battle to pick off a good one! The session would have been much better for me if I had brought a bigger surf board as the waves were a bit weak as they got closer to the beach.

Matanzas, however, has been firing, the wave is really fun here, fast, hollow and right in front of rocks to keep the adrenaline nice and high when you get caught on the inside! On big days it is worth bringing a clean change of trousers ;)

Apologies for the stupid blogging backlog, I was busy trying to get the site up from here in Chile. Service shall now resume in an orderly fashion...
